Paradise Mafia Island Fishing And Diving 
A large island situated about 80 nautical miles to the south of Zanzibar, Mafia is a stunningly beautiful island some 48 km long and 17 km wide, part of which has been turned in to a marine protected area.
The northern half of Mafia is not included within the marine park, but further south fishing is restricted in certain areas. Sport fishing is permitted in general use zones on the payment of a fishing licence fee.The main anchorage is in Chole Lagoon surrounded by islands with gorgeous white sandy beaches.
Accommodation in Mafia
KINASI LODGE is a most attractive place able to accommodate up to 28 guests in cottages each with en-suite bathroom and covered verandah. We visited Kinasi and Mafia in April 2002 with "Kamara II" and were most impressed with the place. It would be a lovely place to take the family as the non-fishing members could do some diving, snorkeling or simply laze about on the beach or by the swimming pool. The lodge has recently undergone major refurbishing and prices are very reasonable.
MAFIA ISLAND LODGE - Mafia Island Lodge can accommodate up to 80 persons in attractive cottages overlooking the beautiful Chole Lagoon at very reasonable rates. The lodge continues to undergo refurbishment and will continue to get better.
POLE POLE RESORT - a small rather exclusive resort in very attractive settings, the most expensive of the three options.
Mafia Island is well known for big dog-tooth tunas.The area has not been extensively fished and I am sure that there must be some huge giant trevally and wahoo plus all the other fishes associated with reefs. Mafia is situated just 20km off the great Rufigi River Delta, which must add considerable nutrients to the area.
