Located on the 100 acre private island of Lupita on Lake Tanganyika, this all-inclusive five star lodge has been designed with the local environment in mind. Set at Lupita's highest point, its gardens blend seamlessly with the surrounding bush which is home to families of otter, incredible numbers of birds, several species of fruit trees and much unusual flora.

The 14 suites, set in huge open sided villas and decorated in Zanzibari style, have spacious sitting rooms furnished with bars, writing desks and Italian leather sofas, while the bedrooms have huge hand-made dhow-beds. Inside, there are split-level bathrooms with enormous baths and waterfall showers, while outside you'll find private plunge pools and natural stone baths. Stunning views of the beautiful lake and surrounding archipelago with its fabulous rock formations and sandy beaches can be taken in from the verandas. Butler service is provided with each villa.

The main lodge area includes a dining room, decorated with African artefacts, with a bridge to a bar made from salvaged dhow wood and a pool with its own bar and sun terrace. Water sports lovers can indulge in activities ranging from snorkelling, swimming and scuba diving to windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and fishing. Trips to the Mahale Mountains can be arranged or you can just relax and take in the stunning scenery of the Congo in the distance.
