The spectacle as the vast herds cross rivers and sweep through the golden grasses, is punctuated by individual struggles with the predators, which are in turn drawn to take their part in this dramatic event. Birds and butterflies abound, elephants wander through the camp at night, leopard's call nearby. Nowhere else can you get so far from civilization, yet stay in such style.

Governors’ Private Camp is an exclusive camp for those who would like a safari surrounded by luxury and added comfort. The camp is intimate and small and each of the tents feature superior furnishings like handmade beds, crafted from fallen olive trees and Victorian baths in the en-suite which include bidet bathrooms. The tents have large, extended veranda's where guests may order a private dinner if preferred. A main dining and bar area completes the facilities whilst the private guide and hosts are always to hand to assist with safari activities or queries.
As the name correctly suggests, Governor's Private Camp Hotel is even more exclusive and luxurious than the other Governor's Hotels, camps and lodges. Indeed, it can only be booked by one family or group at a time -that is, up to 16 people enjoying for themselves the whole camp, located at a stunning bend of the Mara River. The booking minimum is of 4 guests for a 3-night period. The spot has been accurately chosen, not only by the camp organizers but also by wildlife, which regularly come to drink (antelopes) or play (elephants) or simply live there (hippopotami).Personal service is obviously impeccable, while tents are luxurious, furnished with traditional furniture and complete with private en suite bathrooms. Meals are sumptuous and drinks -with the exception of sparkling champagne- completely free.

Our Executive Chef is responsible for planning the menus at Private Camp and for ensuring that the food is of the highest possible quality. All meals, drinks (except champagne), three game drives daily, game walks as well as laundry are included in our price. Park entrance fees, as well as other activities (such as ballooning, the Lake Victoria excursion, a visit to a Maasai village) are to be paid in addition to the rate.  Please announce special dietary requirements to us in advance. Please note: luggage restriction of 15 kg on all domestic flights. Extra luggage can be left at your base hotel in Nairobi.
